Getting to and from Palma Mallorca Airport (PMI)

Palma is the only major city on the island of Mallorca, but there are many interesting towns, villages and seaside resorts nearby the airport as well. Can Pastilla and Las Maravillas lie to the south of Palma de Mallorca Airport, and Sant Jordi and S’Aranjassa are found to the east. To the north of the airport is Sa Casa Blanca, and directly west is the town of Son Ferriol, which has recently acquired a new golf course. The roads surrounding the airport can be busy, and it is recommended to avoid rush hour traffic if possible. Busy times on the roads are from approximately 07:30 to 09:30, and from 16:30 to 19:30. The roads of importance nearby Palma de Mallorca Airport include the Cami de Can Capó, or the C-717, to the east, the Autovia de Levante to the south and the Carretera de Manacor to the north. The PM-30 also lies to the west of the terminal buildings.

Driving to Palma de Mallorca Airport from Puerto de Alcudia

From areas such as Puerto de Alcudia to the north of Palma de Mallorca Airport, passengers and visitors in their own vehicles can use the 713 in a southerly direction to reach the airport. It is an easy drive; simply follow the signposts to the airport. They are indicated as ‘Aeropuerto de Palma de Mallorca’.

Driving to Palma de Mallorca Airport from Banos de San Juan

Banos de San Juan is located to the south of Palma de Mallorca Airport, and directions from here and other areas in the south are as follows:  Motorists should drive north to Campos, and then join the 717 and head west to the airport. Signs help to show the direction of the airport.

Driving to Palma de Mallorca Airport from Porto Cristo

From areas in the east of the Island such as Porto Cristo, head in a westerly direction to Manacor. From here, the 715 can be used to reach the airport.

Driving to Palma de Mallorca Airport from Cabo de la Mola

Motorists travelling from areas in the west, or from Cabo de la Mola, should head north to Andratx, and then drive in a southerly direction on the 719 to Peguera. Continue on the 719 in a northeasterly direction to Palma de Mallorca Airport, which is well signposted.

Palma de Mallorca Airport’s four terminal buildings are well equipped for the needs of all arriving and departing passengers, as well as for disabled passengers. For passengers with movement disabilities there are toilet facilities suitable for wheelchair users, pavements with ramps and lowered edges, lifts for access to the upper floors of the airport and pedestrian areas that have no obstacles. There are also adapted telephone booths, reserved parking areas and various amenities that offer assistance to sight-impaired or hard of hearing individuals. Wheelchairs can be organized from the staff at the information points, and further assistance is also available from staff of your airline company. Special requirements should be specified at least 48 hours in advance of your departure flight from Palma de Mallorca Airport.

There are numerous travel agencies and tour operators present at the airport, and La Caixa provides banking services. Currency exchange services are available, as well as a post office, a VAT refund office, first aid facilities and a lost property office. Palma de Mallorca Airport offers two VIP lounges, namely, the Formentor, located in the boarding area of Module D and the Miró located on the departures floor. There is also the Babor Lounge, suitable for booking conferences and other events. Visitors and passengers enjoy the high quality shopping outlets as well, and the wonderful restaurants available.

For those who do not wish to drive their own vehicle to Palma de Mallorca Airport will find a couple of bus services in operation. The Line 1 buses travel to the airport from a number of local areas in Palma, and the Route 21 buses connect the airport to many popular hotels and areas surrounding Palma. Palma Mallorca Taxis are an alternative option to the public bus services. The airport does not have its own direct railway connection.
